It is with deep sadness that we have learned of the passing of our esteemed Party member, historian and friend to many, Gordon Lucy.

Ulster Unionist Party Chair Lord Elliott said:

“Gordon was an exceptional historian, particularly of Northern Ireland and its people. He was known and respected far and wide for his deep knowledge and understanding of historical events, activities and people.

“I knew Gordon for almost 40 years. On many occasions he spoke with great authority at events in his home county of Fermanagh, which drew significant numbers of people keen to hear accurate information from him.

“Throughout his time in Belfast, he continued to be a valued member of the South Belfast Association of the Ulster Unionist Party.

“While we will miss Gordon, we are thankful for the deep historical knowledge, his articles in the Belfast News Letter and the many publications he has left us.

“Our sincere sympathy goes to Gordon's sisters, Janet and Anne, and all the family circle.”
