The Ulster Unionist Party welcomes action on Belfast Health Trust - Chambers

Ulster Unionist Party Health Spokesperson, Alan Chambers MLA, has congratulated Mike Nesbitt for his series of swift interventions on the unacceptable behaviour and poor working culture of some individuals in the RVH Cardiac Hub.

He has also welcomed the Minister’s announcement that the Department’s performance accountability process for Belfast Trust has been raised to level five, the highest level. In further action, the Minister is forming an intervention team that will include experts with experience in senior leadership positions.

Alan Chambers said, “This statement today is a firm indication of the Minister’s determination to find solutions to the problems in the Belfast Trust that have been identified by the independent report.

The Minister finished his statement today with the following words:

A year ago, I said I wanted every action I take as Minister to be judged by whether it delivers better outcomes for patients, service users and each and every individual delivering healthcare in Northern Ireland.

“I am confident that the Minister, supported by his departmental team, will bring that motivation to address the current crisis.”
