Potential Post Office Closures in Antrim, Bangor, Belfast, Londonderry, and Newtownards
Potential Post Office Closures in Antrim, Bangor, Belfast, Londonderry, and Newtownards
Ulster Unionist Economy Spokesperson Diana Armstrong has voiced concern on the news that the Post Office may potentially close five branches across Northern Ireland.
Ms Armstrong said:
“As the Ulster Unionist Economy Spokesperson, I am concerned about the ‘potential’ closures of post offices in Antrim, Bangor, Belfast, Londonderry, and Newtownards which as I understand are directly owned by the company. These closures will undoubtedly have a detrimental impact on the communities they serve, particularly affecting the most vulnerable who rely heavily on these essential services.
“While I appreciate the Post Office is currently working through a transformation plan in a bid to overturn a loss-making model, it’s important that the local community and those in employment have their say in how these services are affected.
“I know my party colleague Robin Swann MP shares my concerns, especially given the closure of another Antrim Post Office. The Ulster Unionist Party will be pressing the UK Government and the Post Office to reconsider these closures and explore alternative solutions that will preserve these community assets.”
