Chambers welcomes Health Ministers’ commitment to additional support for children with Disabilities
Commenting on the announcement today from the Health Minister, Ulster Unionist Party Health Spokesperson Alan Chambers MLA said.
“I welcome the announcement today from the Health Minister that he has been able to identify up to £2m funding for the current year as part of an up to £13m multi-year support to improve services for children with disabilities.
“The recent focus by the Spotlight documentary ‘I am not okay’ highlighted the pressures many children with disabilities and their families are facing due to a lack of funding. I welcome that the Minister has acted promptly to ensure that many of those families will be able to access services that had been unavailable.
“In light of the huge financial pressure the Minister is under to deliver a Health Service that faces a severe funding shortfall, it is a testament to his commitment to protecting our most vulnerable and isolated that this funding has been allocated.”
