Butler Congratulates Students on GCSE Results Day

Ulster Unionist Party Deputy Leader and Children & Young People’s Spokesperson Robbie Butler MLA has congratulated all pupils receiving their GCSE results today.
Mr Butler said: "I want to congratulate every young person who has received their GCSE results today. These outcomes reflect years of hard work, and you should be proud of your efforts, whatever the marks on the page.”
“For those delighted with their results, celebrate and enjoy this success. For anyone disappointed, remember that this is only one moment in your journey. As Kipling reminded us, triumph and disaster are both impostors, what matters most is what you do next. Every setback can become a stepping stone to future success.”
Mr Butler encouraged students to take confidence in the many options now available:
“A-Levels are the right path for some, but there are excellent alternatives in apprenticeships, vocational training and further education. Employers in Northern Ireland value the skills, dedication and experience that come from all of these routes. What matters is finding the option that best suits your strengths and ambitions.”
Highlighting wider challenges, Mr Butler added:
“While today we celebrate achievement, we cannot ignore the stubborn gaps in outcomes for children from disadvantaged backgrounds, nor the persistent gender disparity with girls significantly outperforming boys. These are issues the Education Minister must address with urgency if every child is to have the same opportunity to succeed.”
Concluding, Mr Butler said:“To the Class of 2025, whatever your results today, this is just the beginning. Northern Ireland is full of opportunities, and with resilience and the right support, every young person has the potential to thrive.”
