Speaking as the list was made public, Ulster Unionist Leader Doug Beattie, MC MLA said.

“I want to congratulate those from across Northern Ireland who have been named in the New Years honours list.

“It is great to see so many being recognised for their commitment to community and voluntary work in Northern Ireland, at a time when so many are facing daily struggles it is important and right to recognise and celebrate those who continue to give so much to support those most in need.

“Recognition for Belfast Oscar-winning actor James Martin, who received an MBE is greatly deserved. James continues to be an amazing ambassador for the Arts in Northern Ireland.

“From my own constituency I would like to personally congratulate The Reverend Canon William Matthew Adair - Rector, St Columba's Parish, Portadown and Joseph Garvey for their tireless work and commitment to those they serve."
