Attacks do not represent Carrickfergus – Stewart

Ulster Unionist Party MLA for East Antrim, John Stewart, has met with senior PSNI officers following a number of racist hate crimes in Carrickfergus last week.

Speaking after the meeting, Mr. Stewart said.

“The attacks last week in Carrickfergus are utterly despicable and have no place in a civilised modern society.

“I spoke to senor PSNI officers this morning regarding last weeks’ race-hate attacks and am confident that every resource is being utilised to identify those who carried out these disgusting acts.

“My thoughts are with the families involved and I sincerely hope they are able to recover quickly from these traumatic incidents.

“Those responsible do not represent Carrickfergus. Our wonderful town of Carrickfergus is actually represented by the many hundreds of people and organisations who have come together to provide support and reassurance to the families involved.

“These shameful attacks must stop and I would appeal to anyone with any information to contact the PSNI on 101.”
