Allen Welcomes OSCE delegation to Stormont

Ulster Unionist Communities Spokesperson and East Belfast MLA, Andy Allen MBE, today met a delegation of women from the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe during their week-long visit to Northern Ireland.

The group, consisting of women from Kosovo and Serbia, were visiting Stormont to better understand the political structures of Northern Ireland.

Speaking after the event, Mr. Allen said.

“It was a pleasure to be able to share my experiences of politics in Northern Ireland with this group today. It is unfortunate that, due to the current failure of our political system, they were not able to see a fully functioning Assembly, however, their interest in our journey so far and where we hoped the future may lead us, was obvious.

“Such visits are essential to be able to highlight to those from similar but different backgrounds, the challenges we have met and continue to meet. It would be great if we were able to provide a stable and functioning government to show the next intake of participants that we can, finally, deliver together on the desire to make Northern Ireland work."
