Standing up for Northern Ireland

27/04/2008

Ulster Unionists believe that standing up for Northern Ireland means securing devolved government for this part of the United Kingdom - and that devolution will secure Northern Ireland's place within a modern United Kingdom.

Through the accountability and transparency brought by devolved government, Ulster Unionists will work to deliver value for money and fair rates - for all of us.

The new-found confidence, strength and direction that devolution has brought to our fellow-citizens in Scotland and Wales highlights the opportunities that a working Assembly and Executive hold for Northern Ireland. Devolution will empower Northern Ireland to move forward and widen access to power, which can be just as important as access to wealth and opportunity. Through accountable, devolved government, Ulster Unionists will bridge the gap between government and the people of Northern Ireland.
