What's 'dumb' for Sinn Fein is 'clever' for the DUP?

Danny KennedyUlster Unionist deputy leader Danny kennedy MLA has described Peter Robinson's 'clever device' to maintain control of the policing and justice negotiations as "not big, not clever and certainly not original".

Speaking after the First and deputy First Ministers addressed the Assembly today, the Newry and Armagh MLA said:

"The First Minister's safety net for policing and justice is far from a clever device, particularly when just a matter of weeks ago he called similar threats from Sinn Fein 'dumb'.

"Indeed it seems rather strange that he is happy to wield the weapon of withdrawal, but has never discussed the potential re-introduction of suspension legislation.

"Having received no real clarification on the 'outstanding issues' of St Andrews, nor indeed what constitutes an agreement on parades, it seems that the great minds of the DUP and Sinn Fein really haven't made much progress on the devil that remains in the detail."
