Sinn Fein and banking don't mix

23/02/2009

SM_Reg_empeyUlster Unionist leader Sir Reg Empey MLA has called upon the Sinn Fein Leadership to demand the return of the £26million which was stolen from the Northern Bank in 2004.

Commenting after Sinn Fein's Annual Meeting, Sir Reg Empey said "In his conference speech, Gerry Adams berated the banks for their actions, describing them as banksters. He went on to say that the full rigor of the law should apply to them for any wrongdoing."

''Does he not understand the sheer humbug of Sinn Fein's position on banking? Would he not be better calling for the return of the £26m that the IRA stole from the Northern Bank? If he were to do so, he could be taken more seriously when commenting on financial matters!"

If Sinn Fein are honest in what they say about the economy then they can start by calling upon the criminals who stole £26 million from Northern Bank to return it. If republicans had nothing to do with the robbery, as they so vehemently claim, then they should have no problem calling for the return of the money."

"People are beginning to see through Sinn Fein's economic policies for what they really are; total nonsense. It is obvious that they have no expectations of coming to any position of power in the south, for if they did they would not be making should ludicrous statements on the economy."
