‘Here for the people of South Antrim’ by you.

Danny Kinahan MLA this week joined the Ulster Unionist Party's Assembly team, representing South Antrim.

Arriving at Parliament Buildings on Monday, Mr Kinahan said he was "honoured and proud" to undertake the role of MLA.

"From studying history and politics at A-level I have always had a keen interest in politics and current affairs. When I left Christies in 2003, I found that I had time to devote to politics - it was then that I became more involved.

"Joining the Assembly team is a great honour and I hope that my input will be welcome.

"I would like to extend my thanks to Sir Reg Empey, leader of the party, and to Fred Cobain, the chief whip, who have made me feel most at home.

"I look forward to working with my colleagues, to the challenges I will face and the opportunities this role will bring.

"I am here to work for the people of South Antrim, to ensure that are represented fully and also making devolution work for all the people of Northern Ireland."
