Conservative and Unionist MEP Jim Nicholson visited Kilcranny House last week with party colleague David McClarty MLA.
Kilcranny House enables both communities to get together in a neutral environment and develop relationships, discuss difference and challenge boundaries in a rural context.
After an extensive tour of the facilities and discussions with staff, Mr Nicholson said in a statement,
"It struck me that Kilcranny House offers something unique. We usually associate conflict resolution and cross community centres with an urban environment. In fact most courses and outreach centres I have visited in Northern Ireland that offer a similar environment to Kilcranny House are within the greater Belfast area.
I believe that the rural tailored approach that Kilcranny House have adopted is unique and having seen first hand the wonderful work of the staff and heard the positive feedback from participants, this is an idea that the government should be looking to fund across rural Northern Ireland."
