24/11/2009

David McNarryUlster Unionist MLA David McNarry has congratulated those who have taken part in the RSPB Nature Hotspots photography competition held at Stormont.

This week, all the entries were on display at parliament Buildings and winners were announced for various wildlife categories.

Commenting on the initiative the UUP representative said; "I would like to extend my congratulations to those who took part in the competition and to those winners. I have to say I was most impressed by their work which highlighted some of the beauty spots within my own constituency and across the Province."

"The photo exhibition hosted by RSPB at Stormont was impressive and gave MLA's an opportunity to see homegrown. The photos are an example of how beautiful our surroundings in Northern Ireland are - something we often take for granted."

"The event also represented a deeper meaning - the importance of looking after our environment. Photographs within the competition varied from a fox relaxing at Strangford Lough - an inquisitive otter at Portmore or the breathtaking scenes at the Giants Causeway. These amazing images represent the stunning countryside and scenery we have a round us and we must ensure that it is protected for future generations."
