Bombardier project will sustain 800 jobs

17/11/2009

SM_Reg_empeyUlster Unionist MLA Reg Empey has welcomed the news that work has began on a new aircraft parts base in Belfast which will sustain over 800 jobs.

Commenting on the initiative at Bombardier, Sir Reg commented; "I welcome the start of the programme - it is great news for the economy, great news for the industry and great news for East Belfast. This is the first major facility to be built by Shorts since the Second World War and it must be remembered that investment for this initiative came from the Treasury after fierce lobbying from all of the political parties.

"This is particularly important during a time when we have uncertainty within the economy, and within the manufacturing sector. This project will sustain over 800 jobs - this is a good news story and one that will be welcomed by the local community."
