DUP turnout says it all

24/11/2009

David McClartyUlster Unionist MLA David McClarty has said that the "DUP nailed their colours firmly to the mast when saving their own jobs drew a better Assembly turnout than a statement on Swine Flu".

"It speaks volumes that just four members of the DUP turned up to a Ministerial statement on the life and death issue of Swine Flu, compared with the 31 who showed up to pass a motion prolonging double jobbing.

"This is not the first time the DUP have had a low attendance rate when it comes to Ministerial statements on health, however in the same week as they turned out in force to protect their double jobbing habit it looks pretty poor.

"Top billing on the DUP agenda is clearly looking after their own interests. Such magnanimity in sparing a whole four members to hear about this most serious virus, which has afflicted over 1,200 individuals across Northern Ireland to date, says it all."
