Ulster Unionist support for Enniskillen monument

Ulster Unionist Party Leader Tom Elliott has welcomed the announcement by the Ely centre for a permanent monument to commemorate those who were murdered by terrorists throughout the constituency.

Mr Elliott said: "I am very well aware of the hurt and suffering caused by the years of a terrorist campaign within our society. This has resulted with many families left without a husband, wife, father, mother or other family member and many have been maimed and disabled for life.

"A permanent memorial to those who paid the ultimate sacrifice would be a fitting tribute to their memory and somewhere that those who were bereaved or injured could pay their respects to their family and friends.

"Obviously it would be important that the considerations of those families who have suffered in such circumstances within our community are given proper recognition on this matter.

"I look forward to supporting this project and assisting with progress on the issue."
